Tag Team Top 5 For The Week of July 28th, 2014

WCTT

Tag Team Top 5 For The Week of July 28th, 2014

1. World’s Cutest Tag Team (Joey Ryan & Candice LeRae) – Quite possibly the team that put intergender tag teams on the map picks up their biggest victory to date as they defeated the Young Bucks at PWG to become the NEW PWG Tag Team Champions on 7/26! If that wasn’t enough, they also had another victory on the week defeating Brittany Wonder & Marcus Lewis on 7/22 at APW solidifying their #1 spot for this week.

2. Randi West & Joesph Schwartz – 2 victories helped another intergender team make the top 5 this week as West & Schwartz defeated Ian Rotten & Mistress Burgandi at EPW on 7/24 before going onto defeat former #1’s Team IOU at IWA on 7/25! With that big victory and a more consistent team between the 2, we could be seeing more of this team on the rankings in the future.

3. Corey Havoc & Doctor Hurtz – This is one of these cases where the fan poll helped out big time! Havoc & Hurtz were originally placed #4 before the poll results came in. Placing #2 on the fan poll moved them up a ranking showing that your support truly does matter! These 2 had a great week defeating IWF American champion Biggie Biggs & Shawn Donovan as well as Mike Cammett & Dan Kinnally in the finals to win the IWF Commissioners Cup becoming NEW IWF Tag Team Champions in the process.

4. Da Hoodz (Davey Cash & Kris Pyro) – They had quite possibly the second biggest victory of the week, winning Beyond’s Tag Team Battle Royal at Americanrana ’14 on 7/27 defeating 5 other teams as well as defeating The Influence at a Beyond secret show on 7/25. Strength of competition may have been the only argument preventing Da Hoodz from being higher up in the rankings.

5. Reno SCUM (Adam Thornstowe & Luster the Legend) – Undefeated as a team in 2014. Not many can claim that one, but Reno SCUM is one of these teams. Again, a case of strength of competition may have prevented these guys from being higher up in the rankings as they defeated the Hell Hounds on 7/27. But with a 5-0-1 record (according to cagematch.net) since January 2014 defeating teams like the Young Bucks & Bad Influence, we can only imagine seeing more of these guys in the future.

Honorable Mention: Jocephus & Eve – NEW Resistance Pro Tag Team Champions after picking up a big victory defeating Jay Bradley & Mr. 450 on 7/25! Just missed out on the top 5 with only the 1 victory this week.

JCW Commisioner Violent J inducted 2 Tuff Tony into the JCW Hall Of Fame!

Madman Pondo & Crazy Mary Dobson beat “The Iron Demon” Shane Mercer & Heidi Lovelace in the first intergender tag team match in Gathering history.

(6) Main Event: JCW Hvt. champion 2 Tuff Tony pinned Tommy Dreamer in a match that was at times scientific, at times extreme, and at other times in the crowd!

Post-match: Dreamer said that in 25 years of wrestling he had never wrestled at 5:00 in the morning before and that it’s a rare TREAT to have a career “first” so many years into his career. He also said that he had received numerous phone calls and messages from wrestlers encouraging him not to come to the Gathering, and that he had one message for all of them: “FU!”

– JCW Commisioner: Violent J, Commentary by Shaggy 2 Dope & KG Kevin Gill, referees Sparkey Ballard and Drew Taylor, Ring Announcer Upchuck The Clown, and D.J. Clay on the Wheels of Steel.
