Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 27th, 2017

#1 Bubblegum (@Pipbubblegum)-It was a hectic week for Indy Power Rankings official voters as some late results poured in forcing almost all of them to change their ballots. In the end, it was the wins on Sunday that ultimately pushed Bubblegum into a #1 ranking for a third straight year. The Southside Wrestling Entertainment Speed King, 4FW Junior Heavyweight, Just Do Wrestling and Absolute Wrestling Champion defeated Lionheart at PCW in the first round of the 2017 Kris Travis Memorial Tournament, then beat T-Bone in the second round the same day, then beat Penta El Zero M in the semi-finals, and then beat Kenny Williams in the finals to win the tournament with a 4-0 record for the week. It was an inspirational weekend in memorial of a great talent. No one could be more deserving than Bubblegum this week!

#2 Matt Riddle (@riddletuf7)-Matt Riddle continues his ascension up the IPR 100 ladder this year as he knocked it out of the park once again over the weekend. The PROGRESS Atlas Champion defeated Anthony Henry at EVOLVE on 2/24, then beat Drew Galloway there on 2/25, and then teamed with Chuck O’Neill at Beyond on 2/26 to defeat American Destroyers (Donovan Dijak & Mikey Webb) to go a perfect 3-0 for the week. We’re almost three months into this year’s rankings and Matt Riddle is cementing his place as one of the top independent talents in the world ALREADY for 2017. Look out for him to continue to kick ass and take names as 2017 rolls on.

#3 ACH (@GoGoACH)-The AAW Heritage Champion continues his phenomenal 2017 on the indies as he defeated Tracy Williams at EVOLVE on 2/24 and then beat Jason Kincaid there on 2/25 to go 2-0 for the week. As you can see, EVOLVE played a major role in our rankings this week with 2 of the top 3 rankings going to competitors who built a great weekend based primarily on their victories at EVOLVE. ACH has been ranked repeatedly this year, but the one goal that has escaped him since the inception of the Indy Power Rankings is a #1 ranking. Will 2017 be the year that it finally happens for ACH? Stay tuned…

#4 Penta El Zero M aka Pentagon Jr./Pentagon Dark (@PENTAELZEROM)-Before PCW’s Sunday results came out the official voters ALL had Penta El Zero M at #1 in the rankings for the very first time, but it was the loss to Bubblegum that cost him the top spot this week. That being said, he still obtained a very good ranking with a 3-1 week in the UK. First, the Lucha Underground Champion and Wrestling Superstar World Submission Lucha Champion defeated Pete Dunne at Revolution Pro Wrestling on 2/24, then defeated Roy Knight at Preston City Wrestling on 2/25 in the first round of the Kris Travis Memorial Tournament, then defeated Colt Cabana in the quarterfinals the same day, but then lost to Bubblegum on 2/26 to go 3-1 on the week. There’s little doubt that Penta El Zero M will eventually grab that elusive #1 ranking down the road.

#5 Ethan Page (OfficialEGO)-“All Ego” QUIETLY had a very good weekend at EVOLVE as he was able to knock off Jason Kincaid on 2/24 and then Darby Allin on 2/25. Page is again proving that he is one of the best talents to come out of Canada in the last few years as he just continues to knock off some of the top competition in the world. He’ll need to continue this type of momentum if he hopes to continue to pick up rankings as he’s done in previous years. There’s little doubt that Ethan Page is up to the task this year.

#6 Zodiak

#7 Fenix

#8 Keith Lee

#9 Jake Crist

#10 Kotaro Suzuki

People’s Champ. Chris Slammer (@MacsGym)-Hard work pays off. This may not be as true for anyone more than it is for Chris Slammer as he won his first professional wrestling award when he outlasted Brandon Aarons, Zack Monstar, Vern Vicallo (and others) to win this week’s online voting competition with 141 votes. He got on the poll after a win vs. Adam Steele at LPW in a #1 Contenders Match over the weekend and his fans took care of the rest to get him his first People’s Champ award. Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 20th, 2017

#1 Dishonorable Impact (Chelsea Green & Taeler Hendrix)-The inaugural Queens of Combat Tag Team Champions become the first female tag team to grab #1 in the Tag Team Top 5 in quite some time. The duo of Chelsea Green and Taeler Hendrix ran through a loaded tournament as they beat Kiera Hogan & Aja Perera, Rachael Ellering & Nevaeh, and finally Leva Bates & Mia Yim to finally win the tournament and the titles. The QOC Tag Team Champions swept the official voters’ ballots as each and every official voter had them at #1 on their ballot this week. This is a team that with their first #1 ranking now has a ton of momentum on their side. Time will tell if they continue to build and pick up further rankings as 2017 rolls on.

#2 People’s Champs. The Four Nations (Jack Bonza & Mick Moretti)-Don’t let the polldaddy glitches fool you…The Four Nations did BARELY win the online voting competition this week as they were in the lead at the 10 PM Eastern cutoff. That being said, they not only won the competition, but earned their way into the #2 spot as they defeated Concrete Davidson and Big Fudge at Newcaste Pro in Australia on 2/18 in the semifinals and then defeated SMS (InstaGraham & Snapchad) in the final to win the 2017 King of the Castle Tournament to go 2-0 for the week. Give a like to Jack Bonza’s Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/Jack-Bonza-1237073106356296/

And Mick Moretti here: https://www.facebook.com/mickmorettipw

#3 Kings of the East (King Shahil & Lazar Armani)-It was really a toss-up to see who would be #2 and who would be #3 this week, but in the end the online voting competition pushed Four Nations ahead of the Kings of the East despite an almost identical weekend. This tag team defeated Power Force (Aaron Jackson & Jagger Stevens) at New Horizons Pro Wrestling in Australia on 2/18 in the semifinals and then defeated Team Overdrive (Estrella Ardiente & Jarrad Slate) in the final to win the Headshrinker Samu Legacy Cup Tournament to go 2-0 for the week. Australia proved to be a heavy-hitter in this week’s tag team rankings as we ended up with Australian tag teams at #2 and #3.

#4 The Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa)-The NEW WrestleCircus Tag Team Champions get their first-ever ranking this week as they defeated The Pretty Boy Killers (Keith Lee & Shane Taylor), The Boys (Brandon & Brent), Extra Talented (Aaron Solo & Ricky Starks), Andy Dalton & Scott McKenzie and Carson & Davey Boy Smith Jr. to become inaugural champions in a battle royal on 2/19. Outlasting 5 other teams was particularly impressive as they are the only team with one official victory in the Tag Team Top 5 this week, but with that being said, again, they DID beat five other teams to win the titles. This week has been all about new blood and G.O.D. is no different.

#5 Raze Cray (Ruby Raze & Ray Lyn)-Hell of a week for this impressive tag team as they knocked off Sage Sin Supreme & Kimmy Shellhammer at Sabotage on 2/18 and then beat Holidead & Heather Monroe the same day to go 2-0 for the week. It should also be noted that they ended the week in fourth in the online voting competition with 37 votes from their fans and supporters in a very stacked field. If these two continue to team consistently, you could absolutely start to see them climb the Tag Team Top 5 ladder with a #1 ranking in sight. Time will tell, as always.

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 20th, 2017

#1 People’s Champ. Darius Carter (@MrDariusCarter)-What an absolutely INSANE week of success for so many talents all over the indies. You could have interchanged more than even TEN people into the top spot this week, but in the end, it was the online voting competition that essentially determined who would become #1. For the third time this year, we have a #1 who is also the People’s Champ in the same week. The Tier 1 World Champion beat Matt Striker Five Borough Wrestling on 2/17 to retain the Tier 1 title, then defeated Pinkie Sanchez at Pro Wrestling Magic on 2/18 to retain the title again, and then defeated Jason Vera at Tier 1 Lucha on 2/19 to go 3-0 for the week. He then collected a VERY impressive 129 votes to edge out Stitches for the People’s Champ award this week. It couldn’t happen to a more dedicated wrestler as Darius Carter just continues to know how to market himself. Give him a like on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/WrestlingsRichestPrize/

#2 John Wayne Murdoch-The success continues for the IWA Mid-South Champion as he just continues to win and win…and win! First, he beat Zachary Wentz on 2/16 to retain the title, then beat Jake Parnell on 2/18 to retain again, and then beat Zodiak the same night to go 3-0 for the week. JWM has been absolutely UNSTOPPABLE in 2017. The 2016 King of the Death Matches is EASILY #1 in this year’s IPR 100 (as of now) and looks to continue that success this year, which will surely require him to continue to retain that IWA World Title week after week. Murdoch is absolutely on FIRE right now and it’s looking like there’s no one in IWA who can stop him.

#3 Trent Seven (@trentseven)-Despite being unable to wrest the WWE UK Championship away from his Moustache Mountain partner on NXT (which of course doesn’t count towards our rankings) his success on the indies this past week landed him in the #3 spot in this week’s Top 10. The ICW World Champion and ½ of the PROGRESS and CHIKARA Tag Team Champions beat Lionheart on 2/17 to retain the title, then beat Joe Hendry in a non-title match on 2/18, and then beat Wolfgang on 2/19 to retain once again to go 3-0 for the week. The UK got a LOT of spotlight in 2016 and that appears to be continuing as 2017 rolls on.

#4 Ricochet (@KingRicochet)-The 2014 IPR 100 #1 is back in the Indy Power Rankings this week after a spectacular 3-0 week for the Future of Flight. He defeated Travis Banks at What Culture Pro Wrestling on 2/13, then defeated Lio Rush at Pro Wrestling Guerilla on 2/18, and then defeated Sammy Gueverra at WrestleCircus on 2/19 to finish off his perfect week. On any other week, those wins would have been enough to warrant a #1 ranking, but this week was absolutely rampant with huge wins and multiple victories. Time will tell if Ricochet can pick up this pace and perhaps land back in the IPR 100 once again at the end of 2017.

#5 Joe Coffey (@Joe_Coffey)-The Scottish Heavyweight Champion had one hell of a week as he defeated BT Gunn at What Culture Pro Wrestling on 2/13, then defeated Ravie Davie at Insane Championship Wrestling on 2/17, then defeated Sha Samuels on 2/18, and then defeated BT Gunn on 2/19 to go 4-0 for the week. Like Ricochet and so many others, this was easily a week that would have landed him in the #1 spot on any other week, but again, this week was just full of difficult choices and competition. Look out for Joe Coffey to continue this momentum as 2017 continues to churn out more and more rankings.

#6 Delilah Doom-#3 in the online voting competition with 80 votes

#7 Matt Riddle

#8 James Anthony

#9 Beer City Bruiser

#10 Alex Colon
