Indy Power Rankings for the Week of August 28th, 2017

#1 KUSHIDA (@KUSHIDA_0904)-The ROH World Television and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion came back to the indies over the weekend and he came out with his first #1 ranking in quite some time. He went to the UK and defeated Travis Banks at WCPW on 8/22, then defeated Kenny Williams on 8/23 in the first round of the WCPW World Cup Tournament, then defeated Zack Sabre Jr on 8/24 in the quarter finals, then defeated Mike Bailey (non-tournament) on 8/25, then defeated Joseph Conners on 8/26 in the semifinals, and then defeated Will Ospreay in the final to win the tournament to go 6-0 for the week. An undefeated weekend and SIX wins helps KUSHIDA show his dominance yet again.

o #2 Rob Van Dam (@therealrvd)-Your eyes do not deceive you! It’s “The Whole F’N Show” in the Indy Power Rankings this week after taking his show to Australia over the weekend. He defeated Syd Parker at Battle Championship Wrestling in Australia on 8/25, then defeated James Grace at All Action Wrestling on 8/26 in the semifinals of the AAW Perth Classic Tournament and then defeated The Shark in the final the same day to win the tournament to go 3-0 for the week. While RVD’s very best days may be behind him, he can still be as good as he once was every once in a while. We’d love to see his name pop up more often in big situations on the indies!

#3 Chris Brookes (@OBEYBrookes)-This UK talent had a FANTASTIC weekend as the Fight Club Pro Champion, ½ of the CZW World Tag and RevPro British Tag Team Champions defeated Travis Banks at Fight Club Pro on 8/25 to retain the title, then teamed with Kid Lykos on 8/26 to defeat The Gentleman’s Club (Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy) and then defeated Trent Seven at Progress on 8/27 to go 3-0 for the week. If you take a look at his wins over the weekend, they were BIG. Brookes is perhaps more known for tag team wrestling in recent months, but his wins speak for themselves when given the opportunity in singles competition.

#4 FUMA-It’s the first ranking for FUMA as he teamed with Isami Kodaka, Ryuichi Sekine and Ryota Nakatsu at Basara on 8/24 to defeat GUNSO, KABUKI KID, Naoki Tanizaki and brother YASSHI, then defeated Takato Nakano on 8/26, then teamed with Yasu Urano on 8/27 to defeat Takumi Tsukamoto and Takato Nakano in the semis and then again to beat Ryota Nakatsu and SAGAT in the final to win the Lottery Shuffle Tag Tournament to go 4-0 for the week. It was a tremendous weekend to get him into the Top 10, but the question now is, can he build on this ranking?

#5 Pete Dunne (@petedunneyxb)-Despite being the WWE UK Champion, Dunne still works a ton of indies and STILL get himself ranked consistently. The Attack! 24/7, Destiny World Wrestling and Progress Champion; defeated Eddie Dennis, Lee Hunter, Millie McKenzie, Charli Evans, Jordan Devlin, Martina The Session Moth & Jack Sexsmith in an eight-way at Fight Club Pro on 8/26 and then teamed with Travis Banks at Progress on 8/27 to defeat Jimmy Havoc & Mark Haskins to go 2-0 for the week. Dunne is such a high profile talent now that when he picks up a couple of wins on the indies, he’s inevitably going to be ranked.

#6 Chet Sterling

#7 Yasu Urano

#8 Krixus

#9 Dale Patricks

#10 Will Ospreay

People’s Champ. Dynamite Dillen-The WCWO Outlaw Heavyweight Champion wins the online voting competition for a second straight week this week. He defeated Pogo by DQ on 8/25 to retain the title and then beat TJ Kemp in a No DQ Match on 8/26 to retain the title again and his fans and supporters once again took care of the rest as he EASILY won this week’s online voting competition. The back-to-back People’s Champ is absolutely on fire right now. You can give a like to Dillen’s Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/Dynamite-Dillen-1405330366432225/
