Indy Power Rankings for the Week of August 7th, 2017

#1 Rey Fenix (@ReyFenixMX)-It’s a second #1 ranking this year for Fenix after a VERY hotly contested official vote. The PDM Light Heavyweight, ½ of the PWG Tag Team Champions, and NEW Rockstar Pro American Luchacore Champion defeated Jeremiah at the joint Rockstar Pro/Wrestling Revolver event in the first round, then defeated Shane Strickland in the semis, then defeated AR Fox in the final to win the tournament and the vacant title. He then teamed with AR Fox & Juventud Guerrera at AAW on 8/5 to defeat OI4K (Sami Callihan, Dave Crist & Jake Crist) to go 4-0 for the week. It was a phenomenal week where he JUST edged out Fred Yehi for the top honors in the Indy Power Rankings Top 10.

#2 Fred Yehi (@FredYehi)-The former #1 and current FIP World Champion came SO CLOSE to becoming #1 once again this week but just got beat out by Fenix. He won WWN Style Battle over the weekend as he beat Jarek 1:20 in the First Round on 8/4, then beat Caleb Konley in the second round, and then beat Ethan Case in the finals to win the tournament. He followed that up with a win over Tracer X at FIP on 8/5 to retain the Full Impact Pro Title. His 4-0 record for the week certainly rivaled Fenix and there could certainly be an argument either way, but in the end, Fred Yehi adds to his impressive list of accomplishments this year with a #2 ranking.

#3 Matt Riddle (@SuperKingofBros)-Riddle just continues to rack up huge wins all over the world and added yet another big list of wins to his growing list of tournament/title wins. The WWN Champion defeated Tank in the first round of the Scenic City Invitational on 8/4, then defeated Gunner Miller in the semis on 8/5, and then defeated Anthony Henry, Curt Stallion and Joey Lynch in a four-way final the same day to win the Scenic City Invitational to go 3-0 for the week. Riddle appears to be the odds on favorite to end the year at #1 in this year’s IPR 100. He’s got a lot of competition but seems to be staving them off quite convincingly week after week.

#4 Tyler Colton-CWE in Canada brings a competitor with a 7-0 record as their break neck tours continue to make a big difference in the Indy Power Rankings. The Canadian Wrestling Elite Champion defeated Kaz Karter on 7/31 to retain the title, then defeated Silas Young on 8/1 to retain again, then teamed with Danny Duggan on 8/2 to defeat The Cannon Clan (Jacob Creed & Bobby Collins) then defeated Jacob Creed on 8/3 to retain the title, then defeated Jacob Creed on 8/4 to retain again, then defeated The Big Chief on 8/5 to retain again, and then beat Jacob Creed to retain again on 8/6 to finish off the week with a perfect, undefeated record.

#5 GO Asakawa-We get another tournament winner at #5 making this week JAM-PACKED full of talents who could have been #1 on any other week. GO Asakawa defeated Yoshihiro Horaguchi in the first round at Kaientai Dojo on 8/5, then defeated Shiori Asahi in the quarterfinals, then defeated TAKA Michinoku in the semis, and then defeated Kotaro Yoshino in the final to win the K-Dojo Kaio Tournament to go 4-0 for the week. It was an incredible week for Asakawa that somehow only ended up with a #5 ranking, but with the types of weeks ahead of him in the rankings you can probably see why.
#6 Will Ospreay
#7 Tomomitsu Matsunaga
#8 Eric Fantabulous
#9 Leon Ruff-#2 in the online voting competition with 28 votes
#10 Naomi Yushimura
People’s Champ. Shawn Priest (@Shawn_Priest)-Shawn Priest wins his first online voting competition as he collected 73 votes AFTER winning a battle royal at Brew City Wrestling on 8/3 to win the Wisconsin State Fair Title. Wisconsin again comes STRONG this week in the fan vote as the state produces another People’s Champ. Be sure to give Shawn Priest a follow on Twitter @Shawn_Priest to see if he can build on this momentum as 2017 rolls on!
