Indy Power Rankings for the Week of July 17th, 2017

#1 Priscilla Kelly (@priscillakelly_)-For the second straight week, there was absolutely no parity in the official voting as Priscilla Kelly swept the official voters’ ballots at #1. The NEW SHINE Nova Champion earned her #1 as she defeated Veda Scott at SHINE on 7/15 in the first round of the title tournament, then defeated Leah Vaughn on 7/16 in the quarterfinals, then defeated Kiera Hogan in the semifinals, and then defeated Candy Cartwright in the final the same day to win the tournament and become inaugural champion with a 4-0 record for the week. Priscilla Kelly has been quietly making waves lately due to her…let’s be honest…gorgeous appearance, but her wrestling speaks for itself. With a four HUGE victories over the weekend and a new title in her collection, she now springboards herself into the conversation for this year’s IPR 100 proving once again that male or female, all athletes have a chance in the Indy Power Rankings.

#2 Joey Matthews-What a weird, weird world independent wrestling can be. Most people wouldn’t have expected to see Joey Matthews in this position of the Indy Power Rankings, but MCW shocked everyone when Matthews won their Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup XVII. He defeated Joe Keys in the First Round and then beat some FANTASTIC talent in Anthony Henry, Brandon Scott, Joey Janela, Lio Rush, and Shaheem Ali to win the tournament with a 2-0 record for the week. This tournament has always played a big part in our rankings and Joey’s #2 ranking is just further proof of that fact. It was a shocker, but it’s good to see the former Joey Mercury in the Indy Power Rankings Top 10.

#3 Jiro Kuroshio-So rankings 1-3 are all newcomers to the Indy Power Rankings. Kuroshio gets a #3 ranking after entering and winning the Wrestle-1 Grand Pix Tournament. He defeated Koji Doi at Wrestle-1 on 7/12 in the first round, then defeated Manabu Soya in the semifinals, then defeated Masayuki Kono in the final the same day to win the tournament. He then teamed with Daiki Inaba and Seiki Yoshioka on 7/16 to lose to Shotaro Ashino, Yusuke Kodama and Seigo Tachibana to go 3-1 for the week. That one loss was possibly the only thing that kept him from an even higher ranking. That said, Jiro Kuroshio still had a phenomenal week by winning the tournament.

#4 Penta El Zero M (@PENTAELZEROM)-It’s more success for Penta El Zero M as the AAW Heritage, Wrestling Superstar World Submission Lucha, and ½ of the PWG Tag Team Champions teamed with Daga at Lucha Libre Boom in Mexico on 7/12 to lose a three-way tag match to La Mascara & Maximo, then defeated Jeff Cobb, Marty Scurll and La Mascara in a four-way at The Crash on 7/14, then teamed with Shane Strickland on 7/15 to defeat Trevor Lee and Garza Jr., and then defeated La Mascara by DQ at Lucha Libre y Pasion in Mexico on 7/16 to go 3-1 for the week. On a side note, we just wanna say that it’s great to see him back in the ring doing his thing after the scary robbery incident in Mexico. Welcome back, Penta!

#5 Kevy Chevy (@KevyChevyWPG)-This talent out of Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada had success at CWE as he defeated Wildman Firpo at Canadian Wrestling’s Elite on 7/14, then teamed with Mike Mission, Logan Reid, Brian Rich the same day to defeat DRAGNEEL, Agent Red, Jacob Creed, & Bobby Collins, and then defeated Mike Mission to go 3-0 for the week. This is the first ranking for Kevy Chevy as the uniquely-named Canadian wrestler swept the week in Canada. If he can build on this ranking, you may be seeing more of him in 2017.
#6 Brody King
#7 BxB Hulk
#8 Human Tornado
#9 Anthony Henry
#10 Yuko Miyamoto
People’s Champ. Amazing Maria (@Amazing_Maria)-It’s the first win in the online voting competition of 2017 for “Amazing” Maria James as the Revolution Championship Wrestling Revolution Strong Champion started the week slowly with a loss to Jordynne Grace at IWA Mid-South on 7/13, but bounced back as she defeated Dani Ferrera on 7/15 to retain the title to go 1-1 for the week. Her fans and supporters rallied behind her as she collected 44 votes to win the online voting competition.
