Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of July 10th, 2017

#1 People’s Champs. Anthony Henry & James Drake-It’s rare, but this week we have a CLEAN sweep of both the official voters and the fan vote for the NEW EVOLVE Tag Team Champions after defeating Catch Point (Chris Dickinson & Jaka) on 7/8 to win the titles. They weren’t done there as they defeated Catch Point (Dickinson & Jaka) and The Ugly Ducklings in a Triple Threat Tag Match on 7/9 to retain their newly won titles to go 2-0 for the week. Those wins combined with 98 votes from their fans and supporters made them one of the few teams to ever win the online voting competition AND the official #1 in the same week while at the same time being #1 in every single official voters’ ballots. This week was particularly exciting for Anthony Henry as he enjoyed his second straight #1 in singles along with a #1 ranking in the Tag Team Top 5. It’s one of the best weeks that any independent talent has had since the inception of our rankings in 2013. You can follow Anthony Henry @AntnyHenry on Twitter and Instagram and you can pick up his t-shirts here: http://www.prowrestlingtees.com/wrestler-t-shirts/henrysmash.html

As for James Drake (the one from the U.S. that is) you can follow him on Twitter @RealJamesDrake and you can book him via email at bookjamesdrake@gmail.com

#2 War Machine (Warbeard Hanson & Ray Rowe)-The IWGP Tag Team Champions and NEW WCPW Tag Team Champions won the titles when they defeated The Swords of Essex (Scott Wainwright & Will Ospreay) at WCPW on 7/7. They followed that up with a victory over The London Riots (James Davis & Rob Lynch) at PROGRESS on 7/9 to go 2-0 for the week. With the WCPW Tag Team Titles now in their possession we should expect to see War Machine working more independent promotions going forward in 2017 which should open them up for the possibility of cracking this year’s Tag Team Top 50. With so much work done over the last couple of years in ROH and New Japan, they now have a greater chance to get their names out there on the indies once again.

#3 Night Ryders (Dustin Rayz & Alex Colon)

#4 Mount Tessa (Tessa Blanchard & Vanessa Kraven)

#5 British Strong Style (Tyler Bate, Trent Seven, and Pete Dunne)

Just missing out/Others Receiving Votes:

Abdullah Kobayashi & Ryuji Ito

Unbreakable F’N Machines

Fire and Nice

The Rejects

Punisher747 & Brutus

Los Ice Creams
