Indy Power Rankings for the Week of May 29th, 2017

#1 Tracy Williams (@sauce_williams)-Just like that we have a NEW and FIRST-TIME #1! It was an insane weekend chalk full of tournaments and at the end of it all, Tracy Williams stood atop the charts as this week’s Indy Power Rankings #1. It was the JT Lightning Invitational Tournament 2017 that led to this week’s #1 as last week’s #6 ranked competitor defeated Eddie Kingston at Absolute Intense Wrestling on 5/26 in the first round, then defeated Dominic Garrini, Mike Tolar and Tom Lawlor in a four-way semifinal on 5/27, and then defeated Joey Janela and Shawn Schultz in a three-way elimination final the same day to win the tournament with a 3-0 record for the week. “Hot Sauce” has been on fire as of late and this weekend was no different as he just continues to make a name for himself on the indies.

#2 Travis Banks (@Travis_BanksPW)-When it came to strength of competition, NO ONE could stack up against the former #1 and current Fight Culture PRO, Lucha Forever, and ½ of the RevPro British Tag Team Champions. He defeated Matt Riddle at Lucha Forever on 5/25 to retain the title, then beat Jimmy Havoc at PROGRESS on 5/27 in the First Round of the tournament and then beat Flamita at PROGRESS on 5/28 in the quarterfinals to go 3-0 for the week. The following day he won the tournament, but those wins will apply to NEXT week’s rankings. Despite his very big wins, Williams got the nod for the prestige of the tournament and the fact that he won several multi-man matches. Banks already has a strong argument already for next week’s #1. We shall see how it all pans out.

#3 Jason Kincaid (@GiftKincaid)-Had it not been for his loss to AR Fox at FIP on 5/26, you likely would have been looking at Jason Kincaid as this week’s #1. That said, he still EARNED his #3 ranking as he defeated Sean Maluta in the first round at WWN Style Battle on 5/27, then defeated James Drake (US) in the Block B final, and then defeated Fred Yehi in the final to win the tournament to go 3-1 for the week. With Kincaid now healthy and seemingly recovered from his neck injury, there’s no doubt that he’s going to use this momentum to continue to make a name for himself wherever he goes. Perhaps the most positive man in pro wrestling, “The Gift” continues to wow fans all over North America.

#4 Ruby Raze (@Razerpops)-Much like Kincaid, if it had not been for the tag team loss (with Hudson Envy) vs. The Killer Baes (Laura James & Heather Monroe) on 5/28 at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, she would have had a strong argument for #1 this week. She defeated Jordynne Grace at Alternative Wrestling Show on 5/27 in the first round, then defeated Candice LeRae in the semifinals, and then defeated LuFisto in the final to win AWS Women’s Tournament #5. Raze is an absolute bad ass and an equal opportunity ass-kicker, so when you get the chance to see her live, DO NOT MISS IT! She’s one of the most skilled and intimidating females on the indies today.

#5 Shayna Baszler (@qosbaszler)-The #5 spot belongs to someone who won yet another tournament, meaning that tournaments played a role in rankings 1-5 this week. The Absolute Intense Wrestling Women’s and PREMIER Women’s Champion defeated Lena Kross in the first round at New Horizons Pro Wrestling on 5/26, then defeated Sway in the semifinals and Madison Eagles in the final on 5/27 to win the Indy Gurlz Australia Global Conflict Tournament to go 3-0 for the week. On any other week she would have had a solid shot at #1, but this week was just STACKED with competition. Look out for Shayna Baszler to try to build on this momentum as 2017 rolls on.
#6 Anthony Henry
#7 Jurn Simmons
#8 Matt Riddle
#9 Zack Sabre Jr.
#10 People’s Champ. Andrew Duckworth (@drew_duckworth)-The NEW NCW and NEW GPW Southern States Champion gets into the Top 10 this week after defeating Jagged Edge on 5/26 at NCW to win the title and then beating Torque on 5/27 at GPW to win their title to go 2-0 for the week. Those wins combined with him winning the online voting competition with a very impressive 109 votes pushed him into the #10 spot this week. The now TWO-time People’s Champ (his last win was the Week of October 24th, 2016) is going strong right now and if he can continue to win and defend his titles, he may be a force to reckon with in 2017.
