Indy Power Rankings for the Week of April 24th, 2017

#1 Matt Riddle (@SuperKingofBros)-Very few talents could say they had a better week than the PROGRESS Atlas and WWN Champion. He went into PWG on 4/21 and defeated Adam Cole, then beat former EVOLVE Champion Timothy Thatcher at EVOLVE on 4/22, then then defeated Mike Verna at the joint BattleClub Pro/Tier1 Wrestling event to retain the PROGRESS Atlas title, then defeated Drew Galloway at Evolve on 4/23 to retain the WWN title, and then defeated Penta El Zero M at Tier1 the same day to retain the PROGRESS Atlas title again to go 5-0 for the week. While a talent like Aaron Epic DID have more wins than Riddle in a one week span, you just can’t argue with the level of competition that Riddle faced AND beat. Riddle is starting to make his mark as perhaps the future #1 in this year’s IPR 100. Time will tell as to how that unfolds as 2017 rolls on.

#2 Aaron Epic (@AaronEpic83)-So after being #3 last week, Aaron Epic continued his “epic” roll as he picked up SEVEN wins over the weekend. “Death Proof” moves up to his highest singles ranking to date as ½ of the Orlando Pro Wrestling Intergender Tag Team Champions and NEW Punk Pro Wrestling Champion beat Alex Santiago at Monster Wrestling Orlando on 4/22, then defeated Jake Jones, then defeated Faris Hakeem, then teamed with Sam Houston, Chasyn Rance, Carlos Gabriel & Raegan Fire to beat Faris Hakeem, Alex Santiago, Jason Dugan, Mike Austin & Kaci Lennox, then defeated Carlos Gabriel, then defeated Tripp Cassidy to win the Punk Pro Wrestling title, and then defeated Jake Parnell to go 7-0 for the week. Look out for him to continue this roll as Epic is just now hitting his stride in 2017.

#3 Zack Sabre Jr. (@zacksabrejr)-The 2016 #1 is back in the Indy Power Rankings once again as the EVOLVE, PWG World, and RevPro British Heavyweight Champion picked up two QUALITY wins over the weekend. First, he defeated Dick Togo at PWG on 4/21 in a non-title match and then beat Lio Rush at EVOLVE on 4/23 to go 2-0 for the week. ZSJ is starting to make strides toward another HIGH ranking in this year’s IPR 100, but with about 7 months to go, how far will he end up? Can he be the first wrestler to ever come in at #1 two years straight? Sabre has some work to do, but he certainly seems up to the task.

#4 Sam Houston-Yes, THAT Sam Houston, at 53 years old, just had a FANTASTIC weekend in Florida. He started the week off at Monster Pro Orlando on 4/22 where he defeated Jason Dugan, then teamed with Chasyn Rance, Leo O’Farrell & Kaci Lennox to beat Alex Santiago, Faris Hakeem, Mike Austin & Amber Nova, then defeated Carlos Gabriel, then teamed with Chasyn Rance, Aaron Epic, Carlos Gabriel & Raegan Fire to beat Faris Hakeem, Alex Santiago, Jason Dugan, Mike Austin & Kaci Lennox, then defeated Leo O’Farrell & Faris Hakeem in a triple threat, and then teamed with Alex Santiago & Leo O’Farrell to beat Carlos Gabriel, Faris Hakeem & Mike Austin to go 6-0 for the week. Sam Houston is proof that sometimes in wrestling, age is just a number.

#5 Jeff Cobb (@MrAthleticJCobb)-The Action Zone Wrestling and PREMIER Heavyweight Champion continued his wave of success last week as he defeated Makenza Cruz at AZW on 4/17 to retain the title, then teamed with Blaster at Cape Championship Wrestling on 4/22 to defeat Farmer Billy Hills & Dell Tucker, and then defeated Keith Lee at Pro Wrestling Guerilla on 4/21 to go 3-0 for the week. Cobb is an absolute beast and now the Indy Power Rankings are really starting to bear that out as he’s on his way to superstardom all over the indies (and beyond). This is a wrestler that we expect to see over and over again over the upcoming months just based on his spectacular talent alone.
