Indy Power Rankings for the Week of April 3rd, 2017

#1 Zack Sabre Jr. (@zacksabrejr)-Last year’s #1 in the IPR 100 had some STRONG competition this week for the top spot in the Indy Power Rankings with Wrestlemania weekend in full force. ZSJ gets his first #1 of 2017 as the Pro Wrestling Guerilla, Evolve and RevPro British Heavyweight Champion defeated ACH at Evolve on 3/30 to retain the title, then defeated Jimmy Havoc at Progress on 3/31, then defeated Michael Elgin at Evolve the same day (non-title) then defeated Penta El Zero M at RevPro the same day, then defeated Mike Quackenbush at Chikara on 4/1, and then defeated Mark Haskins at the WWN Super Show the same day to retain the Evolve title to go 6-0 for the week. He was the first person to trump the Best of the Best Tournament as it has historically always produced a #1 ranking.

#2 Dave Crist (@TheDaveCrist)-What an INSANE week for the IWA Mid-South, ½ of the JCW Tag Champs, and ½ of the AAW Tag Team Champs as he defeated Cole Radrick, Aaron Williams and Craig West in a four-way at Rockstar Pro on 3/29, then defeated Kongo Kong and Larry D in a three-way at IWA Mid-South on 3/30 to retain the title, then teamed with Jake Crist at Pro Wrestling Revolver on 4/1 to lose to Jack Evans and Angelico, then defeated Jake Crist, Rey Fenix and Sami Callihan in a first round four-way at Combat Zone Wrestling the same day, then defeated Michael Elgin in the semifinals, then defeated Shane Strickland in the final the same day to win the Best Of The Best 16, then teamed with AR Fox, Sami Callihan & Jake Crist at Full Impact Pro on 4/2 to defeat ACH, Keith Lee, Michael Elgin & Sammy Guevara, and then teamed with David Starr, Curt Stallion and Zachary Wentz at WrestleCircus vs Wrestling Revolver to lose to Boone, Aaron Solo, Ricky Starks & Sammy Guevara and go 6-2 for the week. While he did suffer two losses, if it wasn’t for ZSJ’s ridiculous 6-0 week he would have collected his first #1. As it stands, he gets a #2 ranking and the unfortunate dubious distinction of being the first to win BOTB but not the #1 the same week.

#3 LuFisto (@LuFisto)-LuFisto’s fantastic 2017 continues as she picks up a #3 ranking on the busiest weekend of the year. The SHINE Champion racked up three wins over the weekend as she defeated Leva Bates at Shimmer on 4/1, then defeated Toni Storm at the WWN Super Show to retain the SHINE title, and then defeated Deonna Purrazzo the same day at Beyond to go 3-0 for the week. LuFisto has always been one of the top female talents on the planet, but this seems to be the year where she’s really been picking up consistent rankings in the IPR. With the SHINE title still around her waist, there’s no doubt that she has a strong possibility of continuing this type of success this year.

#4 Matt Riddle (@riddletuf7)-BRO just continues to kill it this year as he picks up yet another ranking this week. The Progress Atlas Champion and NEW WWN Champion lost to Drew Galloway at Evolve on 3/30, then defeated Dan Severn at Game Changer Wrestling the same day, then defeated Trent Seven at Progress on 3/31 to retain the title, then lost to Fred Yehi at Evolve the same day, then defeated Timothy Thatcher, Fred Yehi, Jon Davis and Parrow in an elimination match at the WWN Supershow to become inaugural champion, and then defeated Donovan Dijak at Beyond on 4/1 to go 4-2 for the week. While his record for the week wasn’t as good as those above him, his title win was so important that it was impossible to keep him out of the Top 5 this week.

#5 Pete Dunne (@PeteDunneYxB)-This part-time WWE competitor gets another ranking this week after a great weekend in Orlando, FL. The Progress World Champion defeated Mark Haskins at Progress on 3/31 to retain the title and then defeated ACH at the WWN Super Show to retain the Progress title to go 2-0 for the week (his win at WrestleMania Axxess does not count towards our rankings). Pete Dunne’s status as one of the truly great wrestlers definitely helped him into such a high ranking, but his wins spoke for themselves. If he continues to work independent shows this year, you’ll likely continue to see his name pop up in our rankings.
#6 Matt Tremont
#7 Fred Yehi
#8 Shayna Baszler
#9 Anderson Tyson Moore
#10 People’s Champ. Mitch Johnson (@JohnsonEra)-Mitch Johnson gets his first People’s Champ award in quite some time after winning this week’s online voting competition with a very impressive 111 votes. He became the NEW NWA Central States Heavyweight Champion after beating Deven Spade on 3/31 to win the title, which is what got him on the poll. He came on strong late in the date to dominate the competition to pick up his first People’s Champ award this year. You can follow him on Instagram @JohnsonEra and you can like the official Facebook page of Mitch Johnson here:
