Indy Power Rankings for the Week of March 20th, 2017

#1 Stephen Wolf (@StephenWolf309)-Much like the wXw 16 Carat Gold Tournament, the PGP Ryan Buckley Memorial Tournament has now determined the #1 ranking in the Indy Power Rankings for three straight years following the tournament. Stephen Wolf gets not only his first #1 ranking, but his first-ever ranking as he ran through the competition to win both the tournament and the vacant PGP Franchise Title. He defeated a powerhouse in Shane Mercer in the First Round on 3/18, then beat Blake Belakis in the Second Round the same day, and then beat Bucky Collins to win the tournament, the title, and finish off the week with a 3-0 record. Wolf, also the Funky Munky Champion, has been making big waves in the Midwest and this is just another huge accomplishment to add to his growing list.

#2 Brian Cage (@MrGMSI_BCage)-One of the most powerful wrestlers on the indies returns to the Indy Power Rankings Top 10 after one hell of a week around the loop. The WrestleCircus Ringmaster Champion beat Matt Riddle on 3/17 to retain the title and then picked up a win vs. Sami Callihan and Keith Lee in a Triple Threat Match at PWG on 3/18 to go 2-0 for the week. Essentially what Cage accomplished was beating three of the best talents on the independent wrestling scene in one weekend. The fact that the latter was a victory at PWG also helped his standing as well. Despite many rankings in the IPR since its inception in 2013, the one thing that has thus far eluded him is a #1 ranking. Keep an eye out for him to see if he can make it happen before the end of the year.

#3 Anthony Henry (@AntnyHenry)-The former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings, current PWX Heavyweight Champion, and NEW XWA Heavyweight Champion continued his impressive 2017 as he defeated Mike Bennett and JT Dunn in their own back yard in a Triple Threat Match at XWA on 3/16 to win the title and then beat Brandon Scott in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match at Legacy Wrestling on 3/18 to go 2-0 for the week. Henry is a talent that we’ve been watching for a few years now and it seems that 2017 will finally be his big breakout year. With two important titles around his waist, look out for him to continue this same type of success as the year rolls on. He was also #4 in the online voting competition with 45 votes this week.

#4 Ray Fury-This isn’t the first time the AIWF Krazy 8 has played a role in the Indy Power Rankings and it likely won’t be the last. Ray Fury gets his first ranking after winning the tournament by beating Jacob Ryan in the First Round on 3/17, then Menace in the Semi-Finals, and then finally Teddy King in the finals to go 3-0 for the week. Winning the 2017 version of the tournament was particularly special as he beat a former #1 to win the tournament. It was an impressive win for Fury as he continues to establish his name along the coast.

#5 Ethan Page (@OfficialEGO)-One of the most charismatic talents on the indies picks up yet another ranking this year as he won the Alpha1 Outer Limits Championship after winning the tournament for the gold. He beat Dominic Garrini in the semi-finals on 3/19 and then beat Josh Alexander the same day to become the inaugural champion to go 2-0 for the week. “All Ego” has been absolutely killing it on the indies for several years now and it looks like 2017 will be no different.
#6 People’s Champ. Façade (@1FACADE)-The Neon Ninja FINALLY gets his due on the Indy Power Rankings Top 10 and his fans played a big role in his official ranking. The Pro Wrestling Ninja got on the poll after two huge wins as he beat Gory, Greg Iron, and Lucifer Grimm in a 4 Way at Independence Pro on 3/17 and then beat AR Fox and Eddie Smooth in a Triple Threat Match to win the Legacy Title to go 2-0 for the week. His fans helped push him up the rankings as they collected 190 wins to allow Façade to win his first-ever online voting competition/People’s Champ award.
