Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 27th, 2017

#1 Bubblegum (@Pipbubblegum)-It was a hectic week for Indy Power Rankings official voters as some late results poured in forcing almost all of them to change their ballots. In the end, it was the wins on Sunday that ultimately pushed Bubblegum into a #1 ranking for a third straight year. The Southside Wrestling Entertainment Speed King, 4FW Junior Heavyweight, Just Do Wrestling and Absolute Wrestling Champion defeated Lionheart at PCW in the first round of the 2017 Kris Travis Memorial Tournament, then beat T-Bone in the second round the same day, then beat Penta El Zero M in the semi-finals, and then beat Kenny Williams in the finals to win the tournament with a 4-0 record for the week. It was an inspirational weekend in memorial of a great talent. No one could be more deserving than Bubblegum this week!

#2 Matt Riddle (@riddletuf7)-Matt Riddle continues his ascension up the IPR 100 ladder this year as he knocked it out of the park once again over the weekend. The PROGRESS Atlas Champion defeated Anthony Henry at EVOLVE on 2/24, then beat Drew Galloway there on 2/25, and then teamed with Chuck O’Neill at Beyond on 2/26 to defeat American Destroyers (Donovan Dijak & Mikey Webb) to go a perfect 3-0 for the week. We’re almost three months into this year’s rankings and Matt Riddle is cementing his place as one of the top independent talents in the world ALREADY for 2017. Look out for him to continue to kick ass and take names as 2017 rolls on.

#3 ACH (@GoGoACH)-The AAW Heritage Champion continues his phenomenal 2017 on the indies as he defeated Tracy Williams at EVOLVE on 2/24 and then beat Jason Kincaid there on 2/25 to go 2-0 for the week. As you can see, EVOLVE played a major role in our rankings this week with 2 of the top 3 rankings going to competitors who built a great weekend based primarily on their victories at EVOLVE. ACH has been ranked repeatedly this year, but the one goal that has escaped him since the inception of the Indy Power Rankings is a #1 ranking. Will 2017 be the year that it finally happens for ACH? Stay tuned…

#4 Penta El Zero M aka Pentagon Jr./Pentagon Dark (@PENTAELZEROM)-Before PCW’s Sunday results came out the official voters ALL had Penta El Zero M at #1 in the rankings for the very first time, but it was the loss to Bubblegum that cost him the top spot this week. That being said, he still obtained a very good ranking with a 3-1 week in the UK. First, the Lucha Underground Champion and Wrestling Superstar World Submission Lucha Champion defeated Pete Dunne at Revolution Pro Wrestling on 2/24, then defeated Roy Knight at Preston City Wrestling on 2/25 in the first round of the Kris Travis Memorial Tournament, then defeated Colt Cabana in the quarterfinals the same day, but then lost to Bubblegum on 2/26 to go 3-1 on the week. There’s little doubt that Penta El Zero M will eventually grab that elusive #1 ranking down the road.

#5 Ethan Page (OfficialEGO)-“All Ego” QUIETLY had a very good weekend at EVOLVE as he was able to knock off Jason Kincaid on 2/24 and then Darby Allin on 2/25. Page is again proving that he is one of the best talents to come out of Canada in the last few years as he just continues to knock off some of the top competition in the world. He’ll need to continue this type of momentum if he hopes to continue to pick up rankings as he’s done in previous years. There’s little doubt that Ethan Page is up to the task this year.
#6 Zodiak
#7 Fenix
#8 Keith Lee
#9 Jake Crist
#10 Kotaro Suzuki
People’s Champ. Chris Slammer (@MacsGym)-Hard work pays off. This may not be as true for anyone more than it is for Chris Slammer as he won his first professional wrestling award when he outlasted Brandon Aarons, Zack Monstar, Vern Vicallo (and others) to win this week’s online voting competition with 141 votes. He got on the poll after a win vs. Adam Steele at LPW in a #1 Contenders Match over the weekend and his fans took care of the rest to get him his first People’s Champ award.
