Indy Power Rankings for the Week of December 19th, 2016

#1 Cody Rhodes (@CodyRhodes)-The fan vote once again plays a HUGE role in this week’s rankings as the fans made the difference between Cody Rhodes being #1 and #2. Because he was 2 votes ahead of David Starr in the online voting competition this week, he JUST edged him out for the top spot for the second time this year. The GFW NEX*GEN and WCPW Champion defeated LJT at SWE on 12/15 to retain the GFW Title, then beat Bubblegum at PCW on 12/17, and then beat Will Ospreay at IPW:UK on 12/18 to go 3-0 on the week. We already know Cody will be in the IPR 100 this year, but will he be able to crack the Top 10 after his amazing year? You’ll have to tune in here starting on 12/27 to find out:

#2 David Starr (@TheProductDS)-Before the fan votes were tallied, it appeared that the official voters had deemed David Starr #1 in singles for the very first time, but in the end, the fans helped Cody top him. That being said, the wXw Shotgun Champion had an incredible week as he moves up from #3 last week to #2 this week after beating Mike Orlando and Cheeseburger in a Triple Threat at BCW on 12/16 to retain the title, then defeating Sami Callihan on 12/17 to retain again, and then a victory over Chip Day at PWX on 12/18 to retain for a 3rd time to go 3-0 for the week. David Starr has cemented his place in the Top 100 for the year, but where will he end up? Again, tune in here starting on 12/27 to find out:

#3 The Big Guy/Ryback (@ryback22)-1/2 of the WrestlePro Tag Team Champions gets his first ranking after a big 3-0 week where he defeated JD Knight at 4FW on 12/16, then beat Johnny Moss at PCW on 12/17, and then beat Saul Samuels at 4FW on 12/18. Pretty impressive stuff for a “big guy” who has been taking the indies by storm since leaving the WWE. While he hasn’t the type of year that Cody has had, he’s certainly starting to blaze a trail heading into 2017. Will it be enough to get him into this year’s IPR 100? There’s just once place you can find out:

#4 BC Killer-It’s a first-ever ranking for BC Killer as he won the UEW Sovereign of Slaughter 2016 Tournament over the weekend. He defeated Biggie Biggz in the first round in a chain match, then defeated Damian 666 in a pane and bed of glass match in the semifinals, and then defeated Max X in the final in a no rope barbed wire match to win the tournament on 12/17. BC Killer is attempting to establish a name for himself in the death match scene heading in 2017 as he is looking to start getting mentioned with the likes of names like Matt Tremont & John Wayne Murdoch. Keep an eye on him next year to see what he accomplishes going forward.

#5 Matt Riddle (@riddletuf7)-The phenomenal year for the former #1 continues as he teamed with Jeff Cobb to beat The Young Bucks at PWG on 12/16 in a non-title match and then beat perennial #1 Zack Sabre Jr. at IPW: UK on 12/18 to go 2-0 for the week. Riddle, like so many big names on the indies right now has the inside track on one hell of a ranking next week in the IPR 100 based on the year he’s had. Many have pegged Riddle as a future star, but the fact of the matter is, he’s ALREADY proven to be a star in 2016. Find out where he ranks in this year’s IPR 100 starting on 12/27 here:
#6 Moose
#7 Mega Pegasus
#8 Jake Parnell-#2 in the online voting competition with 17 votes
#9 Iestyn Rees
#10 People’s Champ. Corey Storm (@corey_storm24)-This 15-year old wrestling prodigy gets his first-ever ranking AND a win in the online voting competition this week after a great week in the Midwest. The WCWO Fight or Die Champion defeated Jonathan Wolf and Calvin Tankman in a Triple Threat Match at WCWO on 12/16 and then followed that up with a win over CJ Shine at IWA Mid-South on 12/17 to go 2-0 for the week. Those wins got him on the ballot and his fans collected 51 votes to give him an easy win in the online voting competition this week. This kid has one hell of a future in the wrestling business if he can keep up this momentum. Follow him on Instagram @coreystorm24
