Indy Power Rankings for the Week of November 14th, 2016

#1 Katsuyori Shibata-While there was some amazing talent in (and even just missing out on) the Top 10 this week, Shibata made it impossible to make a strong debate at #1 for anyone else. Why? Well he beat TWO perennial #1’s in one weekend! On 11/10 he became the NEW RevPro British Heavyweight Champion when he defeated Zack Sabre Jr. at RevPro to win the title and then followed that up with another huge win vs. Chris Hero on 11/11 to retain the title for a 2-0 week. While you don’t often see him in the poll or in the rankings due to where he works most frequently, he’s stayed relevant on the indies over the weekend with a title win along with victories over two of the top talents in all of professional wrestling. This was his very first #1!
#2 Ethan Page (@OfficialEGO)-It was a VERY close call as to who was #2 and #3 this week, but in the end “All Ego” Ethan Page won out due to the strength of his victories combined with the prestige of the promotion where the wins took place. At EVOLVE on 11/12 he started his week off strong with a win vs. “the Technical Wizard” Zack Sabre Jr. and then followed that up with a victory at EVOLVE again as he defeated Chris Dickinson 11/13 for a 2-0 weekend record. His week was comparable to several others’ weeks, but it was “All Ego” that ultimately trumped them all for a #2 ranking. What’s the one thing that he hasn’t accomplished in the IPR yet? A #1 ranking. Perhaps that’s the next step for “All Ego.”
#3 Will Ospreay (@WillOspreay)-The former #1 and current RevPro British Cruiserweight Champion defended and retained that title on 11/10 with a win vs. Bushi and then followed that up with a HUGE non-title victory vs. Japanese Legend Jushin ‘Thunder Liger on 11/11 to go 2-0 for the week. VERY impressive week for Ospreay who is really looking to pad his IPR 100 stats as he has spent so much of the year working for New Japan which kept him ineligible for the Indy Power Rankings in regard to any victories he picked up there. Ospreay continues to prove that he’s truly one of the greatest high-flyers on the planet right now.

#4 Kongo Kong (@RealKongoKong)-“The Monsta” moves up from #6 to #4 this week after a clean sweep of the Midwest with a 4-0 record. The APWA Quadruple Crown Heavyweight, JCW Heavyweight, SSW Heavyweight, and XICW Proving Ground Champion beat JJ Garrett at IWA Mid-South on 11/10, then beat Aaron Williams at PWF on 11/11, then beat Mance Warner by DQ at IWA Mid-South on 11/12, and then teamed with Dre Jacobs at XICW on 11/13 to defeat The Monroes. There’s no doubt that Kong has been AMAZING in 2016. He was #3 in the IPR 100 in 2014 and #4 in 2015…where will Kong end up in 2016? Be sure to tune in LIVE as the IPR 100 Reveal Kicks off on 12/27 here:

#5 El Ligero (@Ligero1)-This former #1 gets back into the Top 10 after a very impressive 3-0 weekend in the UK. The 13-year veteran and current SWE Heavyweight and What Culture Pro Wrestling Internet Champion beat Marty Scurll at What Culture on 11/9 to retain the title, then teamed with Martin Kirby & Whitey at HOPE on 11/11 to defeat Craig Anderson & Hard Knocks Inc. (Blake & Burchill) and then defeated Rampage Brown at Pro Evolution Wrestling on 11/12 to go 3-0 for the week. He actually beat two former #1’s in singles action over the weekend and that’s likely what pushed him into the Top 5 despite heavy competition from a very good and talented #6’s through #10 this week.
