Indy Power Rankings for the Week of August 15th, 2016

#1 Joseph Schwartz (@GearsOfSchwartz)-Death Matches rule the #1 spot in the Indy Power Rankings again as Joseph Schwartz gets his SECOND #1 ranking of 2016! The “Gears of Schwartz” keep on rolling along as he SWEPT the official voters with an EASY #1 ranking this week. The NWA United States and UPW Champion had an auspicious start to the week as he teamed with Zodiak & Amazing Maria at IWA Mid-South on 8/11 to lose to Thunder Kitty & The Brotherhood. He then caught fire as he defeated Juan at WCWO on 8/12, then defeated Shad Satu in the first round at UPW to retain the title, then defeated Darkchild in the semifinals to retain again, and then defeated Insane Lane in the final to win the Lord of the Hardcore tournament. He then went on to defeat Shad O’ Satu on 8/14 at MIP to retain the NWA title and defeated Shad O Satu again at SNPW to retain the NWA title the same night to go 6-1 for the week. AMAZING week for Schwartz as his stock just continues to rise. Be sure to visit his Pro Wrestling Tees store here:
#2 Shane Mercer (@theirondemon)-“The Iron Demon” makes his return to the Top 10 this week in a HUGE way as he defeated Chase Owens & Chip Day in a 3 way dance at PWF on 8/12, then defeated Brutus Dylan in a no DQ match at FWF on 8/13, and then won a 40-man #1 contenders battle royal the same night to go 3-0 for the week. Despite a recent knee injury, NOTHING has been able to slow this beast down as he continues to pick up momentum all over the Midwest. What appears to be next on the horizon is yet another date with Kongo Kong…this time for the FWF Title. Will he finally be able to overcome his biggest career challenge in “Da Monsta”?
#3 DASH Chisako-The international influence on the Indy Power Rankings has not gone away as we get another “new” talent to the Top 10 this week from the Land of the Rising Sun. 1/2 of Diana Tag Team Champions competed at SGPW on 8/14 where she defeated Mika Iwata in a qualifying match for the #1 contender tournament, then defeated Alex Lee in the semifinals, and then defeated Cassandra Miyagi in the final to win the #1 contender tournament. She then teamed with Alex Lee at K-Dojo on 8/14 to defeat Bambi & Manami Kanda and go 4-0 for the week. A flawless 4-0 week gets her the #3 spot, but what will be telling is if we see her again before the end of the year.
#4 Konosuke Takeshita-It was truly a week where talents were tested with MANY matches over the course of just one week. The KO-D Openweight Champion defeated Toru Owashi at DDT on 8/8 to retain the title, then lost to Trans Am Hiroshi in a tuxedo match on 8/10, then on 8/11 defeated Tomomitsu Matsunaga in the first round, then defeated Keisuke Ishii in the semifinals, then defeated HARASHIMA in the final to win the DDT Grand Sumo Tournament 2016. He then teamed with HARASHIMA and Yukio Sakaguchi on 8/13 to defeat Shuji Ishikawa, Keisuke Ishii and Kazusada Higuchi to go 5-1 for the week. This was just another awesome showing in the Top 10 as everyone is really picking up the pace and their workload as we head towards the fourth quarter of the year.
#5 Nick Richards-CWF Mid-Atlantic’s prestigious Weaver Cup produces yet another ranking this week as Nick Richards enters the Top 10 for the first time after winning the tournament. He defeated Aric Andrews in the semifinals at CWF Mid-Atlantic on 8/13 and then defeated Arik Royal in the final the same day to win the Weaver Cup and go 2-0 for the week. What has always likely cost the Weaver Cup Winner an easy #1 is that the tournament is spread out among multiple shows/weeks so it’s hard to gauge the momentum once voting comes around. That being said, Nick Richards definitely deserved a ranking and earned a very good one at #5.
#6 Silver Ant
#7 Alexxis Nevaeh
#8 Yuko Sakaguchi
#9 Martin Stone
#10 Hy-Zaya
People’s Champ. Marc Hauss (@themarchauss)-It’s been a while since he sat atop the ranking as People’s Champ but the Hauss has been rebuilt as Marc Hauss is People’s Champ once again. With 216 votes from his fans in the online voting competition, he DOMINATED the online voting competition this week. He got on the poll with a big win in a Gauntlet Match at KDW on 8/13 vs. Black Lightning, Rae Rae The Ram, Charlie Locke, & Cheech, and parlayed that victory into yet another achievement.
