Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of May 9th, 2016

#1 The Bravado Brothers (Lancelot & Harlem Bravado)-In the 3 years we have been doing the Tag Team Top 5 the Bravado Brothers have been ranked multiple times…BUT this is their first #1 ranking. The PWX Tag Team Champions ironically earned the honor in a promotion where they don’t currently hold titles. On 5/6 at EVOLVE they defeated The Devastation Corporation and then followed that up with a win over Chris Dickinson & Ethan Page on 5/7 to go 2-0 for the week. Two quality wins in a quality promotion are the thing that really pushed them to the top this week. If they can continue to win like this, they may be holding more than one set of tag team titles before the end of 2016. As it stands, hopefully they take some delight in being #1 this week. All aboard the Bravado Bandwagon!

#2 Roscoe Eat Lisa (Mikey McFinnegan & Zakk Sawyers @RoscoeEatLisa)-From number 1 just a couple of weeks ago to #2 this week, Roscoe Eat Lisa are now making HUGE strides towards becoming a top contender for the #1 spot in this year’s Tag Team Top 50. This team has been active together for a couple of years now, but they’re REALLY starting to come into their own with both of them improving in all areas of their wrestling game. The Outlaw and ASW Tag Team Champions defeated Slade Sludge & Trenton Codry to retain the Outlaw Titles at SWF on 5/6 and then beat Yukon Jack & Poncho on 5/7 to retain both sets of titles to go 2-0 for the week. One could argue that perhaps the teams they faced weren’t the most established, but considering their momentum right now, it was hard to avoid giving them the nod for another high ranking in the Tag Team Top 5.

#3 Team IOU (Nick Iggy & Kerry Awful @TeamIOU)-These carnies went back to their winning ways this week as they were reunited with the NWA Southern Tag Team Titles once again when they won them back from The System on 5/6. They then beat Bad Attitude (Christian James & Justin Grandberry) at NWA NSW on 5/7 to run their record to 2-0 for the week. This team had great success in 2014 and 2015 but they are absolutely BLOWING UP this year and now they once again have some gold to show for it. Be on the lookout for them to start popping up in some more major companies this year as it appears that their success so far is really just the beginning for a team with limitless potential.

#4 Young Lions (Lucky Kid & Tarkan Aslan)-The fans once again play a big part in the Tag Team Top 5 as they pushed The Young Lions from a #5 ranking to a #4 with 46 votes to support the team. This team had good success in Europe over the weekend as they won the European Tag Team Tournament after beating Chris Colen & Ivan Kiev at GWF in Germany and then The Wards (Luther Ward & Sammy Ward) to win the tournament. A 2-0 week gets them the #4 spot on a week where a lot of very established teams were having success. It’s certainly not a bad ranking for a team who had not been ranked previously this year.

#5 The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter @BeardedBullys)-These Hooligans aren’t out of the hunt for #1 in the Tag Team Top 50 for a third straight year just yet. The FIP World Tag Team Champions got back on the winning track at AAW on 5/6 as they teamed with Buck Nasty to defeat Chuck Taylor, Colt Cabana, & Dan Barry. They then beat The Washington Bullets (Jon & Trey Williams) to retain the FIP titles to go 2-0 for the week. These bearded bullies probably benefited a bit from their name value but when you’re #1 in the Tag Team Top 50 for two years running, you tend to get a little bit of what people might call special treatment from the official voters.

People’s Champs. The Fellowship (@LineageMatters Ronnie Ribs @TheRib35 & GA West @osirusv2)-Last year’s most popular team (in terms of winning the most online voting competitions) picks up their second People’s Champs award of the year as the SPW Tag Team Champions defeated Team Green at PYW on 5/7. There certainly have been better weeks for this tag team, but a 1-0 week got them on the poll and their fans and supporters took care of the rest. With 135 votes this week (almost 100 more than the second place team) The Fellowship are once again your People’s Champs this week.
